Loretta Young has always been one of my favorite actresses. Her beauty and charm appealed to me. Her career spanned almost a century, and I think it's a true shame that she was not given lifetime achievement awards while she was alive to enjoy the kudos.

What did Loretta Young mean to me? Enough that I shed tears as I write this. She was the epitome of style and grace, the consummate professional actress and a loving friend who signed a photo for me even though she was gravely ill.

Did she receive the official kudos she should have? There was no salute by the American Film Institute, or the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, or the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, although her career spanned almost an entire century from silents to talkies to television.

Did her fans love her? They adored her and that meant everything to her. The outpouring of love and genuine sorrow at her passing has amazed me. Many fans thought of her as a role model and words such as "beautiful," "delightful," and "gorgeous" have been used to describe her trademark swirling entrances which so many are remembering fondly today. Loretta Young has left a wonderful legacy and will never be forgotten.
