Visions in Black and White

This is my tribute to classic black and white films and their stars featuring movie stills from a bygone era.

What's so great about black and white movies, you ask?

They relied on story rather than visual effects to keep the audience's interest.
They were less expensive for studios to produce during the Depression and World War II when items needed for color filming and processing were in short supply.
Many filmmakers chose black and white to achieve the artistic effect they wanted, such as in film noir, where a dark tone and pessimistic mood were achieved through black and white photography.

On the following pages you'll find stills from some of my favorite classic black and white films. This is a work in progress, so stop back often as new stills will be added frequently :-)
